He tangata, he tangata he tangata
It is the people, the people, the people

This is a book of many voices. It has major contributions by Jim Horton and Don Bowak but there are many others who have contributed. This acknowledges that we all have our story and our viewpoint and its important to have different voices to give a balanced view on a subject. This page will share a little about each of the contributors.

Jim Horton

Jim Horton is an Elder within his community and whanau (family). Jim has lived at Tui Community, in Wainui bay, Golden Bay, New Zealand (www.tuitrust.org.nz) for over 25 years and is a founder of The Rites of Passage Foundation (www.ropf.org.nz). Jim met Don Bowak at an Australia New Zealand Mens Leadership gathering over ten years ago and they both shared a love of poetry and prose related to Mens work. When Don passed away and left his wonderful book behind for us all, with his families blessing,  Jim decided to reprint it and add some of our own stories to it. That is how this book project began.

It has since grown into a book of many other voices as well.
