March 2005 'Rite of Passage' group photo Seperation point Golden Bay

Jack forest helping make a mask of his sons, 'BOY' face, this symbolises the leaving behind of the old 'skin' like a butterfly.

Mothers waving goodbye to their boys at the seperation, this begining ritual symbolises the last time the boys mother will see him as a boy as he leaves on his journey towards becoming a man

A COMMUNITY IN SERVICE TO THE NEXT GENERATION COMING THROUGH

Each event brings together a diverse community of Tracks Facilitators, Supporting men,Young leaders, new boys. We are usually about 40 people. Everyone at the event is focused on creating a safe, memorable and educational experience for the new young men coming through.

Many societies around the world, both ancient and modern, recognise the transition to becoming an adult and hold a ceremony and celebration - the Initiation or ‘Rite of Passage’. Research shows that when the community creates a conscious ‘Rite of Passage’, adolescents realise more clearly how their strengths and attributes can contribute to the well being of their community as well as to their own future. This not only helps them to be happy, stable and more able to lead positive fulfilling lives but the potential for social improvement is enormous.

Tracks events can have two parts, two possible levels of learning for young men. When a boy first comes to a Tracks Rite of Passage he arrives as a new boy and leaves as a new young man this is his Rite of Passage. He then may be invited to return as a peer leader, a Tracker. We encourage you to think of the process as not just being the one Rite of Passage, but to include a follow up event as a Tracker to learn about qualities of leadership and service. The reinforcing of the Rite of Passage process the second time through as a peer leader adds significantly to the experience.

The five days of our Rites of Passage follow five main themes

- Seperation from Family and Community

- Building our Community

- Transition

- Celebration & Assimlilation

- Return to the Family and Community

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

30th Jan - 2nd Feb Tui Events park,
Golden Bay.

As men we constantly offer ourselves in a servant leadership role to support the unfolding of our lives and the lives of those around us. It is essential we prepare ourselves in a well-rounded manner as we stand on the threshold of the next step of our journey towards mature manhood.

"Who speaks for you – And who’s listening?"

This time will involve personal and individual learning experiences as well as group process.

You will leave with a clearer awareness of:

- What stage of life you are at as a man.

- What the next steps you want to take are on your life path.

- A vision statement for your future as a man.

- What style of leadership you may choose or not.

- How management of self, family and business are inter-related.
